Duncan Placemaking - Station Street
Duncan, BC
This public place making project was initiated by the political leadership of the City of Duncan, BC. Part public square, part urban park, the design combines public and private areas within the downtown urban core into one design with multiple dimensions and features. The design has resulted from a public participation-driven design process, which included three iterative cycles; 1- Programming and the development or five design alternatives; 2- Public review and refinement into one preferred alternative, and; 3- Development of the final design into a cohesive professional response to the process and the context. Participants considered all manner of issues and opportunities, and the outstanding design features that have resulted are depicted in these plans, section-elevations, perspective views, and ground level vignettes.
