Ridgefield Buckingham Straw Bale
Ridgefield, Washington | 2006
The owner of this 2,200 square foot home chose to be her own general contractor, which reduced costs, including a more than 800% reduction on windows. The home features an internally-exposed structural system, with wood peg joinery in a soaring two-level common space. The overall form is simple, with a wrap-around porch that provides covered areas and solar shading. This was the first permitted straw bale structure in Clark County, Washington.
