The Claire Apartments

This project rescued a three-level historic apartment building, extensively damaged by fire.  Located in the inner southeast Buckman Neighborhood, The Claire features twenty living units with a mix from three to one bedroom apartments.  While much of the effort focused on preservation and renovation, some aspects of the design were carefully modified in order to improve and modernize the configuration of the spaces.  Improvements include all new kitchens, floors, and finishes; energy star appliances; complete insulation of the entire building envelope; new exterior decks; upgraded fire-rated stairwells and exiting; fire separation between units; and expanded storage systems.
