Going Street Micro-Village
NE Portland, Oregon | 2019
This small urban infill village begins with a modest existing home with various green upgrades. The fun really begins as you move past the house in to the backyard where a new ADU and two accessory buildings provide a micro-village of small-scale affordable housing. Each of the houses features a porch that looks into the central commons, while the homes are rotated slightly in order to create discrete and separate spaces. This dynamic is tuned to the scale and texture of the surrounding neighborhood so that a new form of development can accommodate more urban dwellers while preserving existing historic architecture of this Portland neighborhood.
