Next Step Co-Housing Village
Clackamas, Oregon | 2016
This co-housing concept is the brainchild of a few teachers who understand the housing needs of adults with sensory sensitivities and autism. The masterplan includes ten comfortable private units for the adults with special needs as well as fourteen units for renters, unified by a "party barn" for shared meals and activities and a permaculture landscape. The homes are designed specifically to support the happiness and well-being of people with an unusual set of needs and habits. The buildings also provide opportunities for solar power and rainwater catchment. The landscape is designed to produce food year round and engage people in joyful work and learning.
