The University of The Trees

Set into the redwood forests of the Santa Cruz mountains, this visionary educational community was founded in the 1970's as an outpost for spiritually based personal and community development. The campus has hosted a spectacular who's-who of visionary leaders, from eastern gurus to counterculture figures who have advanced revolutionary practices for robust health and enlightenment. After a brief period of decline, the architecture is now undergoing reconsideration, and will be expanded and updated to accommodate a broader range of educational programs and activities. These new features will include an updated campus plan with an expanded spectrum of uses, as well as larger, more diverse, and sculptural spaces for learning, meditation, and creative expression. These images represent early stages of the design process and will be updated periodically.
