Ferbel-Azcarate Straw Bale Addition

The first permitted straw bale structure in Portland's history, this little building has opened the door to more ecological residential and commercial construction in the city.  With the birth of their first child, the family needed to expand their residence; they also added a home clinic for their naturopathic business.  The addition brings in a great deal of natural light, opens the kitchen to the south, and features skylights, earthen plaster, bamboo flooring, all recycled doors and windows, and many other natural features and finishes.
